ReSET: Resettlement of Refugees in Northern Westchester

We are excited to let you know about this new program. We, Beth El, have collaborated with Temple Bet Torah, Congregation Shaaray Tefila & a number of other local organizations to form an initiative called ReSET (Northern Westchester Refugee Resettlement Initiative). ReSET will play a direct role in helping refugees establish new homes in Northern Westchester. 

We are currently working with HIAS (Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society) to get assigned a person or family who was evacuated from Afghanistan to re-settle here in Westchester.  It’s a complex undertaking that will require training and various committees to deal with all the tasks that are required to re-settle (i.e., obtain housing, furniture, employment, transportation, English language training, getting kids if any enrolled in schools, dealing with govt agencies to get assistance, & even potential counseling).
