Yom Kippur Afternoon Service
Wednesday, September 19
with Scholar-in-Residence, Rabbi Norman Cohen, Ph.D.
The afternoon provides us with additional opportunities to reflect upon the past year while also exploring central Jewish themes of loss, renewal, and redemption. Our afternoon service, co-led by Rabbi Norman Cohen and Cantor Sternlieb, includes both the reading of the Book of Jonah as well as an in-depth discourse led by our esteemed Scholar-in-Residence. The afternoon liturgy touches on moments of Jewish martyrdom and isolation. We remember the legacies and histories of those upon whose shoulders we stand as a Jewish community. The ritual include both somber and exulted moments, as we assess another year added to the annals of Jewish history.
