Temple Beth El Civil Rights Journey for Adults
February 14-17, 2019
In response to the tremendous enthusiasm garnered by last year’s teen trip, we are excited to offer this opportunity to adults. Join Rabbi Jaffe and Cantor Sternlieb for a four day trip through Alabama and Georgia as we walk in the footsteps of leaders of the Civil Rights movement and discuss the Jewish community’s contributions.
The journey includes visits to Atlanta, Montgomery, Selma, and Birmingham, where we will encounter sites such as the Rosa Parks Museum, the Martin Luther King Center/Auburn Ave. district, Ebenezer Church, the Edmund Pettus Bridge, the Equal Justice Initiative, Freedom Park and Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and the Names Project – AIDS Quilt.
Please join us for this meaningful journey as we explore not only our nation’s past but also how these events continue to shape our modern landscape.
