3rd Grade
3rd Grade
This year, students will study Jewish life around the world and continue to improve their Hebrew reading and decoding skills. Students will interview their oldest Jewish living relatives, and then they’ll speak with members of the Temple Beth El community who have different Jewish immigration stories. Under the leadership of a theater professional, these interviews will inspire the children to either write and perform their own plays, or create accordion books about their interviewees' lives. Students will finish the year with a foundational knowledge of what it means to be a member of Am Yisrael, the Jewish people.
In Hebrew, using Behrman House’s Pre-Primer Shalom Alef Bet, students will learn most of the Hebrew letters and vowels and will begin using their Hebrew decoding skills through hands-on games and activities.
Third Grade families are encouraged to attend a family education session and a parent education session taught by a member of our clergy team. And of course, families all come together to share a Shabbat Dinner, followed by a Friday Shabbat Service led by kids who are eager to show their families everything they’ve learned in the Sanctuary.
