Solar Eclipse Tour with Rabbi Jaffe

Monday, April 8, 2024 29 Adar II 5784

9:30 AM - 8:30 PM

And in that day, declares my Lord GOD, I will make the sun set at noon, I will darken the earth on a sunny day. (Amos 8:9)

As you may know, part of the world will experience a full solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th.  Fortunately, we only live four hours away from the band of total eclipse.  Additionally, the occurrence of a solar eclipse carries great significance within Jewish text and commentary.  As the sun being fully darkened constitutes one of the 10 plagues, we invite you to participate in this experience in preparation for Passover.

Please join Rabbi Jaffe in a chartered bus leaving Temple Beth El at 9:30 am and heading to Syracuse, NY, where we will observe the full solar eclipse.  On the way, we will have time to hang out as well as learn about the symbolism of solar eclipses in Jewish text.  We will then return to Temple Beth El by 8:30 pm.

Timing:
Leave Beth El: 9:30am
Start of Partial Eclipse: 2:10pm
Full Eclipse: 3:23pm
Depart for Beth El: 4:00pm
Arrive Beth El: 8:30pm

Price: $150 per person for chartered bus, including bathroom on board.
